WOMEN’S DIVISION.

COMPETITIONS AT METHVEN. At the monthly meeting of the Methven branch of the Domon’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, at which the president (Mrs Alex. Wilson) presided, it was decided to send shortbread entered' for the competition to men serving in the overseas forces. Mrs Breach read an interesting letter from a friend in a bombed area in England. Miss Grubb gave a. most interesting talk on “Tasmania.” Competitions resulted: Shortbread, Mrs J. McDonald 1, Mrs J. Hyland 2, Mrs J. Wootton 3; baked potato, Miss M. Fleming 1; carrots, Mrs A. G. Rawlinson 1, Mrs R. Dart 2, Miss M. Fleming 3; hot-water bag, Airs B. Cotterill 1, Airs C. Wvlie 2. Airs A. Nelson 3; bloom, Airs B. Cottorill 1, All's R. Dart 2, Airs A. G. Rawlinson 3; unusual tea spoon, Airs D. G. Pritchett. The hostesses were Airs Breach and Alisscs Ai. Fleming and M. Dalton.

THE SEAFIELD BRANCH. The July meeting of the Seafield branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the Seafield Hall, there being a good attendance. Airs F. Johnson presided. Airs H. Driscoll gave a talk on “Sweet Corn and Popcorn Culture,” and exhibited Alnori puddings made from sweet corn. A collection of jams and jellies was given in to be forwarded to the military hospital. Competitions resulted: —Eggless fruit cake: Seniors, Airs J. Glnssev 1, Airs R, Alartin 2, Airs K.
