SENATOR CRITICISED.

MILITARY SECRET GIVEN AWAY. THE OCCUPATION OF ICELAND. (Rec. 11.0 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July S. The President’s Secretary (Mr Stephen Early) criticised Senator Wheeler to-day for giving away an obvious military secret in disclosing last week the imminence of the Iceland move at a time yhen the United States forces were en route. The Germans might have taken advantage of any confusion naturally arising when a large number of troops land, which might have involved a slaughter. Asked if an airline to Iceland would be established, Mr Early declined to discuss the matter, but pointed out that President Roosevelt’s message to Congress emphasised the importance of keeping open the communications. He said the message speaks for itself.
