BUSINESS NOTICES. “ THE ASHBURTON GUARDIAN.” •PUBLIC NOTICE. AT the request of the Government to save supplies of newsprint ana dollar exchange, all newspapers in New Zealand have agreed to reduce the size of their newspapers as from June 2nd. This further reduction in size or papers means that there will bo less space available for advertisers and in order to compensate for the loss of revenue the Trice Tribunal have authorised, an increase in the'Rates for Advertisements. From July 1, 1941, rates for Casual Advertising in “The Ashburton Guar* dian” will be as follows: CLASSIFIED, CASH ADS. WANTED 9, SITUATIONS, FOR SALE, LOST AND FOUND, TO LET, ETC. Advertisements under the headings of Situations Vacant and Wanted, For Sale, To Let, Wanted, Lost uuu Found, Farm Machinery, Cars ana Motor Cycles:— ANNOUNCEMENTS. Birth, Marriage and Death Notices—3/per insertion. Funeral Notices—4/- per insertion. In Memoriam Notices—3/~ per insertion ; if verses added,' Gd each line. Bereavement Notices—3/- per insertion. Engagement Notices—s/- per insertion. (In order to guard against imposition, all such Announcements' must bo authenticated to ensure their insertion).

GENERAL ADVERTISING. Amusements, Meetings, Public Notices, Auction Sales, Tenders, etc., 5/- per inch. IMPORTANT TO ADVERTISERS. Advertisers aro asked to have • their Notices in this Office ns early as possible each morning. The insertion of those arriving later than 1.30™ (except Death and Funeral Notices) cannot bo guaranteed that day. DEATH and FUNERAL NOTICES will be' inserted the same day if received not later than 2 p.m. Advertisers in tluj Country can remit payment by Money Order or Postage Stamps. Advertisers aro informed that letters addressed to a no.m de plume or initials, care, of any Post Office, will NOT be delivered by the Postal Department. Do not send original references with applications for positions. Copies only. For the convenience of advertisers replies to advertisements may be sent to the “Guardian” Office, but the Proprietors do not accept any responsibility in this respect. While every care is exercised in regard to the insertion and classification of advertisements, the Proprietors do not hold themselves responsible for errors or non-insertion through accident or from other causes, and the Proprietors reserve to themselves the right of omitting advertisements that they ihay deem objectionable, even though such advertisements may have been received and paid for in the usual course of business. We cannot be held responsible for errors in Advertisements transmitted by telephone.

CONTRACT ADVTS. ALTERATIONS of CONTRACT Advertisements must bo lodged not later than 3 on the day PRECEDING that on which the first insertion is required. SUBSCRIPTION RATES. The Subscription Rates of the “Guardian” aro as follow: — Four Weeks, 4/-; Three Months, paid in advance, 13/-; or booked, 14/-, Six Months, paid in advance, 25/-; or booked, 28/-; 12 ftlonths, paid m advance, £2/10/-; or,booked, £2/16/-. Town and Suburban Subscribers whose delivery of the “Guardian” is unsatisfactory aro particularly requested, to communicate DIRECT with the Chief Runner (Mr A. P. Calder) instead of complaining to the runner boys. This course ensures first-hand knowledge of irregularities and prompt attention. CORRESPONDENCE.
