NEW STATUS OF ICELAND.
STOCKHOLM, May 20,
Iceland has again become an wholly independent State. M. Finson (Charge d’Affaires) announced that Parliament had voted for severance of the union with Denmark, which has operated since 1918. A Regent is being elected to take over tlie duties formerly exercised by the King of (Denmark. M. Finsen added that Iceland was devoted to tho, Danish Crown, but present difficulties, mainly connected with communications, necessitated a severance.
