COMMUNITY SING.

SEGOND SERIES COMPLETED. £275 FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS. The final community sing for the present organised by the Ashburton Savago Club in the interests of the Ashburton Borough patriotic appeal, held in the Radiant Hall last evening, proved to be one of the most successful of the series of six which have been held since the million pound appeal was launched. The whole series lias resulted in a sum of £275 12s Gd being raised, which the Savage Club has every reason to he satisfied with.

The sing last evening attracted a large attendance and the financial result. placed £4O 5s in the fund. The community singing was led by Afr A. C. Wilson, and Air C. Davis was at the piano. Solo items wore given by Aliss Betty Opie, Afessrs A. H. Todd, D. Cameron (Timaru) and Alaster Trevor Tonics.

Items of receipts were:—Picture sale £2 9s 9d, bag of sugar £5 Is, flag collection £4 Is Id, door takings £lO Gs Bd, donations £4. 11s Gd, auction of goods £l2 16s 2d.
