WING-COMMANDER.

PROMOTION FGIR NEW ZEALANDER (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 1. The distinction of being promoted Wing Commander at the age of 30 belongs to a New Zealander, Squadron Leader Thomas Gray Young; Royal Air Force. His parents are Mr and Mrs W. Crawford Young, Auckland, who received a cablegram to-day advising them of the promotion. Wing Commander Young was born in Wellington and bad his primary education there. Later he attended the Auckland Grammar School. He studied at the Auckland and Canterbury University Colleges and' graduated Bachelor of Engineering. He left New Zealand in August, 1934, to take tip a commission in the Royal Air Force. After the outbreak of war be was Staff Engineering Officer in a southern town in England, and in January last year he was transferred to the headquarters’staff of the Coastal Command, where he is now serving,
