GAOL FOR LOOTERS.
JUDGE’S.WARNING IN BRITAIN LONDON, March 5. Declaring that he and other judges were determined to stamp out looting, Mr Justice Oliver sentenced six Sheffield looters to a total of 20 years and nine months’ imprisonment. “The law puts looters in the same category as murderers because it provides for the death penalty,” said Mr Justice Oliver. “The day may be approaching when they will be treated; as such. There arc still some who do not appreciate tho seriousness of looting. Many looters are operating on a wholesale scale. These men abandoned well-paid positions to- take up the more remunerative occupation of looting.”
