METHVEN D. H. SCHOOL SPORTS. The annual swimming sports at the Me thy on District High School were held in fine weather and created a deal of interest. Swimming is making wonderful progress at the school, and even the youngest pupils take part in the swimming events. Ideal weather prevailed for tho combined schools’ swimming sports held at the Mayfield baths on Wednesday afternoon. Eight schools—Carew, Montalto. Ruapuna, Mount Somers, Springburn, Anama, Lismore and Mayfield—took part. Mayfield School scored most points and after some very close competition the Kerr Cup was won by Ruapuna, with, Carew second and Mount Somers third. Several races were held for style only, tho judge being Mr C. Dunstan. These resulted as follow:—Crawl Stroke— Girls: June McDowell (Mayfield); boys, Addis (Lismore), Moore (Ruapuna).
Breaststroke—Girls: Pat Hood (Montalto), Ngaire Whiting (Carew); boys, Patterson (Ruapuna), Moore (Ruapuna).
