BOXING.
EFFORT TO MATCH CHAMPIONS. j AUCKLAND, January 7. The executive of the Auckland Boxing Association decided at a meeting to-night to investigate the possibility of staging a match between Maurice Strickland, New Zealand heavy-weight champion, and , Ron Richards, Australian middle-weight champion. The matter was left in the hands of the Match Committee, which is to report to a special meeting of the executive to be held next week. Provided that the negotiations are successful, the contest will take place in the open air in Auckland at a near date.
