CAUSE AND REMEDY DISCUSSED.

LONDON, December 14

The high incidence of rheumatism among soldiers is probably due to the intensive development of mechanised warfare, involving work in cramped conditions with frequent changes of temperatux*e, says the annual report of the Empire Rheumatism Council. The council, of which the Duke of Gloucester is president, and Lord Horder chairman, points out that such conditions are especially productive of rheumatic conditions. It offers Australian Army medical authorities help to deal with the incidence of rheumatism in the Australian forces.

Lieutenant-Colonel Anderson .expressed appreciation of the offer, and documents embodying the council’s views will bn sent to Australia and to the Australian Infantry Force in the Middle East and in Britain. The council is now well equipped to advise how the ravages of rheumatism can he checked.
