Farm Report—Mr McGregor reported as follows: During November we drilled areas of rape and chou moellier. These areas were put in with fairly wide rows to allow for a certain amount of inter-cultivation with a view to clearing the ground. A further area of lucerne is to be put in as Si-on as possible. The seed will be inocculated, mixed with carbonate of lime, and drilled in 7-inch rows, 151 b to the acre. Hay-making operations were considerably retarded by heavy rain. The hay in one paddock was badly discoloured and lost a good deal of leaf. In the other paddock where the hay had been cocked, little damage was done. The crop has now been baled, and 5£ tons are in stack. The experiment with the three breeds of lambs is now at the stage when conformation diff j-reuces ai e clearly visible and the lambs form an interesting sight and object-lesson. Two lambs have died. Shearing will be. commenced as soon as possible. Tt will be necessary to arrange for some help during the school holidays. For the visiting committee, Mr Orr reported that the tennis courts were in a very bad state and something should be done soon to put them into good condition. He suggested that the Education Department should be, asked to go into the question of repairing and restoring the school heating system during the summer holidays. It was agreed to write to the Department on : the lines suggested by Mr Orr, and to obtain a report on the cost of--repairing the tennis courts, the Department to be later asked t° carry out ■the work that is necessary.
