ABSENCES FROM WORK
COMPLAINT BY MANUFACTURERS PREMIER, NOT IMPRESSED. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON This Day. The question of loss of production by workfers absenting themselves from their employment Avas raised in the House of Representatives Avhen it met to-day at 10.30 a.m. by a member who quoted remarks made at the New Zealand Manufacturers’ annual conference that such workers often absented themselves for very trivial excuses. He asked the Prime Minister Avhat action the Government intended to take in the matter.
Mr Fraser pointed out the danger in wartime of members picking up exparty statements and putting them across as ascertained facts. He said he understood that the complaint referred to girl workers, and anyone Avith an elementary knowledge of industrial factors knew that special conditions applied to them.
