SUMMER MEETING TO-MORROW.

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. The Ashburton Racing Club will hold its summer meeting to-morrow. Excellent fields have accepted and the racing should be of a high standard. The following is a short review of the fields:— Apprentices’ Hack Handicap.

Two recent winners in Eulogist and Pleading will most likely dispute favouritism. King’s Toast and Airline should make the favourites step out, while Stylist and Rue are worth watching. Of the rest, Ryetown and Sweet Mystery read best. The placings should include Pleading, < Eulogist, King’s Toast. Lagmhor Plate. This event for non-winners is very open. Omapo and Divorced showed up well at the Cup meeting and are entitled to be favourites. Pink Gauntlet, Citizen, Rawhamai and Star Wink have all shown form and may succeed. The choice of the public will most likely be Omapo, Divorced, Pink Gauntlet. Melrose Trot Handicap. In this event much will depend on the places drawn at the barrier and the start. All horses are on the limit and a second line is indicated. Nationalist will have his; chance here. Courier is well spoken of and his connections have high hopes. Ordnance, Silver Flash and Joan Potts are likely place-getters. Of the rest Hoyden appeals. The final choice may be Nationalist, Courier, Ordnance. Tinwald Handicap. The following should be among the placings Dranoel, Lockheed, Blue Abbey. Wakanui Handicap. Schoolgirl will command outstanding attention here.
