Air Chief Marshal Sir Cyril Newall, Governor-General of New Zealand, in a speech, said it was not without a pang that he was leaving his native land in the hour of danger. He was absolutely confident we had turned a very ugly corner, and that with the forces, the output of factories progressively increasing, and further contributions from the Dominions, the Empire was on the victory.
