LANDING IN GREECE.
BRITISH AND NEW ZEALANDERS.
PROTECTION OF AIR BASES. (United Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON. November 25. The Athens correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that British and New Zealand troops have landed in Greece. It was at first reported that Australian troops had also landed, but this is incorrect.
The “Telegraph” adds that famous British warships, with their decks packed with British and New Zealand troops, slipped quietly into a Greek harbour. The British and New Zealanders competed to be the first to sot foot on Greek soil. A Cockney won b.v a narrow margin. •.
The troops represent a complement necessary for the maintenance of the British air bases —men of the Royal Army Service Corps, Royal Air Force ground staff, and New Zealand sappers. Hours before the British ships sailed into harbour the bay was filled with sailing craft, which put out to welcome them.
