SKY CLOUDS OVEP. TO-DAY. r After being beautifully warm and sunny early this morning' the sky ; clouded over shortly before noon and. conditions, which had been close, became coolea - . There was a. cool breeze. The maximum temperatures for yesterday. Sunday and Saturday were 74.2, 62.1 and 67.4 degrees, and the minimum 44.6, 43.2 and 39.2 degrees. The barometer reading to-day was 30.4 inches, and yesterday 30.1 inches. The instrument stood at 29.82 inches on Sunday.

Tho Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the-following statement regarding the weather:—• An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand and the south Tasman Sea, while a weak, disturbance is located in the north Tasman Sea. i The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:—-North-easterly winds predominating, freshening on the coast during the day. Seme morning fog or low cloud, otherwise fine and mild. Seas slight.
