WOMEN’S DIVISION.
MID-CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. The Mid-Canterbury Executive of the Women’s Division of the .Farmers’ Unibn met iow Friday after con, when Mrs G. Moore presided over a good attendance.
Members stood in silence as a. mark of jrespect to the late D'r. G. I. Miller and a motion; of sympathy with Mrs Miller in her bereavement was passed. The president reported that- £2-5 has been sent from branches in Mid-Can-terbury towards the Division’s Fighter Fund. A report on the activities of the Lady Galway Guild was given by Mrs E. M. Begg. The house-keeping secretary reported that since June 5, 20' housekeepers had been in positions for 58 weeks. Four girls had been placed in permanent positions. Three housekeepers were out at present and two' were urgently needed. Two cases of distress were cited and members decided to assist where possible. The resignations of Mrs Shaw as treasurer and of Miss Watson as as-sistant-secretary were accepted owing to their membership of the executive having ceased through the closing of Westerfield branch. Mrs E. M. Begg was unanimously elected treasurer.
' It was decided not to hold the annual eonbined picnic this year.
