ENTERTAINMENTS.

ST. JAMES THEATRE.

1 “ON DRESS PARADE.”

To provide variety over the holiday week-end the Management of the St. James advise that to - day only a special programme has been con tracted for. This will he shown at the matinee and evening performance, and a change of programme will he given on Monday. Seeing the Dead End Kids play heroic roles instead of city toughs is going to he the revelation offered patrons to the theatre on Saturday when “The Dead End Kids, on Dress Parade” will he screened. In this picture, the famous bunch of screen toughs do a complete turnabout and become model youths in a military academy. Still the scrap-happy hooligans, however, Leo Gorcey leads the Kids, this time as a city slicker who comes to military school to show the cadets a thing or two. How Gorcey gets a little discipline by the other Dead Enders, Billy Halop, Gabriel Dell, Huntz Hall, Bobby Jordan, and Bernard Punsley, forms the basis of this lively film of life in a boys’ military academy. 1 Commencing at the special matinee at 2 p.m. on Monday (King’s Birthday) is the “Daddy’’ of all the Rudd comedies, “Dad Rudd, M.P.” The story concerns the further adventures of the famous family and Dad’s efforts in the political field and is highlighted witli riotous comedy sequences. Bert Bailey as usual is excellent as Dad, and is given strong support by Fred MacDonald as Dave and Alex Kellaway as an effeminate farm

Plans for Monday’s sessions are on view at the theatre.
