ATTACK ON RANGITIKI.

NO FURTHER NEWS HEARD. (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) NEW YORK, November 7. Despite a short-wave vigil sinbe the reported attack on the Now Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Rangitiki on Tuesday there lias been no. further news. Reports that British warships are speeding to aid the vessel cannot be confirmed.

The North American Newspaper Alliance’s correspondent (Mr Jay Allen), who is en route to Lisbon by air, cabled from Horta (Cape Verde Island) that the coastguard warned the clipper at midnight that the battle was directly in its course, which was altered by 150 miles. It is there speculated that either a “leisurely” attack is continuing at extraordinary length or British warships have arrived, engaging tho enemy.
