FIRE BRIGADE.
VOLUNTARY PRACTICES. The monthly meeting of the Ashburton Fire Brigade was held last evening. Firemen G. Heffoi'd and J. Fussell were appointed to the social committee. A donation of £1 Is was received, in appreciation of the Brigade’s services at a recent fire. Fireman W. Newlands was appointed to take charge of the fire alarm bells. It was decided to discontinue the carrying of life lines as part of the uniform.
Mr James Burrows was elected a member of the Brigade. Voluntai'y practices will commence next Wednesday.
After the meeting, films wore shown by the Government Publicity Government Agent. They were greatly appreciated by members. They will be shown again this evening.
