flemington social afternoon HELD. The monthly meeting of the Flemington sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was held yesterday afternoon m the Waterton Hall. This meeting, the last until after harvest unless circumstances of emergency rule otherwise, took the form of a social afternoon to which all ladies of the district had been invited, and were welcomed by the president (Mrs C. A vote of thanks was passed to members of the Waterton Women s institute for their donation of bandages forwarded to the Ashburton centre on behalf of the Flemington sub-centre. _ Completed articles were handed in and the president gave particulars of the total amount of knitwear that haa been forwarded by the sub-centie in ing the session. f Mrs Gilmore, who was president 01 the local Red Cross Society during the Great War, proposed a vote of thanlcs to the president for the able manner in which she had conducted the affansio the sub-centre during the year, inis was carried by acclamation. Afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
