LINEN IS PRECIOUS.
IN HOSPITAL IN EGYPT. A NURSE MAKES AN APPEAL. Old linen is more precious than many other articles at the New Zealand military hospital in Egypt, says an Ashburton nurse who is on the staff, and who lias made an appeal tor quantities of old linen for use in many jobs which the staff have to undertake. All sorts of articles are being sent to the hospital, but as it is a braiid new place there has not been timo for an accumulation of old linen, the lack of which is keenly felt, apparently. The Ashburton branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association is making an appeal to Ashburton residents to supply items of old. clean linen to be forwarded to the hospital, and if gifts of this nature aro sent to Mrs G. M. Breezo, Wills Street West, they will be sent to the soldiers’ hospital. Another suggestion that has eomo from the hospital is that the weight of parcels sent to members of the staff should he made up by putting into the parcel a cake of sandsoap. The article supplied to the nurses is said to bo inferior to sandsoap in the cleaning of enamelware. The soldier patients in tho hospital have to supply their own face cloths and toilet soap, and gifts of such articles for distribution among the soldiers who are patients would be welcomed.
