TROOPS PARADE
4500 AT BURNHAM.
REVIEWED BY LORD GALWAY. A SPLENDID SHOWING. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A march past of troops at Burnham Camp was staged to-day on the visit of the Governor-General (Lord Galway). Fifteeni hundred Expeditionary Force troops and 3000 Territorials took part in; the parade, in addition to detachments from the District Military School of the recently-selected recruits from, the Expeditionary Force training battalions who will become officers in future reinforcements. There was a splendid showing by the Expeditionary Force troops, most of whom have* been in training for only tlrriee weeks. ' The Governor-General took the salute and with him was Brigadier O. H. Mead (Officer Commanding the Southern Military District). A feature of the parade was that five' bands took part. After the parade the • Governor-G eneral inspected the camp and later addressed the Expeditionary Force troops. He hoped the difficulties, dangers and discomforts which wbuld be their lot would he faced with the same giim determination so exemplified by the first New Zealand contingent of the last war. Ho wished the troops all the fiest, good luck and a safe and happy return.
