OBITUARY.
REV. P. B. FRASER. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, October 30. Through the death to-day of the Rev. Pliiladelphus Bain Fraser, the Presbyterian Church in Otago has lost 1 one of its prominent figures. Mr Phaser, who was in his eightieth year, was born at Lerwick, Shetland, and was the youngest son of the Rev. Daniel Fraser, one of the heroes of the disruption. After taking his M.A. degree! at Aberdeen University in 188-4, Mr Fraser came to New" Zealand in the following year, and for some years followed the teaching profession in Waitahnna and W'aiareka. In the early years of his ministry lie worked in a home mission charge at Dunback, and in 1897 he received a call to Lovell’s Flat, where hiei remained until 1911, when ho was appointed superintendent of home missions. Three years later he was called to Hokitika, and was stationed there for 12 years. He then retired and! came to live in Dunedin. A vigorous champion of the orthodox doctrine, Mr Fraser for many years edited the “Biblical Recorder,” and ibis. “Brief Statement of the Reformed Faith,” the first edition of -which was published in 1909, received enoouragin'g criticism from ./religious leaders all over the w'orld. For several years he was a member of the. Otago Education Board. Mi: Fraser married! twice. His second wife survives him. CAPTAIN J. MACLEAN.

The death has occurred! of Captain John Maclean, aged 58, harbourmaster at tho port of Otago since 1922. He was a former Union Company master.
