RAIDERS OVER LONDON.
160 ’PLANES TAKE PART

About 160 raiders, mostly fighterbombers, tried to reach London.during the three alerts to-day. A very small proportion penetrated the outer defences.
During, the first raid high-explosives demolished two houses ini London. A man was killed. A numbed’ of others were killed and several wounded seriously- when a London crypt was directly hit. Another bomb hit a London hospital mortuary and narrowly missed a ward in which there vena 50 patients. Seven bombs fell in the district but thcre were uoi casualties. A bomb damaged an institution, for crippled cliildrlen in the south-east of • England Water pouyed from broken pipes. 'Seven children were slightly injured and the cook and a .housemaid were killed. The north-east coast- last night had its longest air raid thus far. High-ex-plosives were dropped at five points. The damage* was slight and the casualties few.
London offices of foreign hanks damaged in recent raids include the National City Bank of New York in Old Broad Street, and. the Yokohama Specie Bank at Bishopgater.
