HAMPSTEAD BRANCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Hampstead Red Cross. Mrs W. H. Robinson presided and opened the meeting with the National Anthem and a prayer for peace. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mrs J. Walker and all members who are suffering through the war. Mr D. 0. Brown, a former headmaster of Ashburton East School, was mentioned as having lost a son. • 'Letters of cheer were sent to three members in hospital. Mrs K. S. McEachen reported ion recent patriotic meetings and members showed willingness to support the coming appeal. Members were reminded of the children’s private dande on Friday evening and a. concert on October 22. An appeal was made for floods for auction at the concert. A comprehensive report of the year’s work was submitted by Miss M. Rose. A report on the financial statement was given by Miss L. Robinson. Votes of thanks ware passed to the outgoing committee and posies were presented to the president, secretary and treasurer. A hearty vote of thanks was also passed to the “Guardian” for publishing reports. Special mention being made of valuable help given. The new committee was elected as folows: President, Mrs K. ft. McEachen “secretary, Mrs H. W. Cook; treasurer, Miss L. Robinson,; vice-presi-Mesdames N. W. Corbett and W. H. Robinson; social committee, Mrs C. S'. Hawkey and Miss R. Watts ; committee, Mrs J. H. Smith, Mis Allen and Mrs Oliver; advisory committee, Mesdames W. S'. ICerr, K. SI. McEachen and N. W. Corbett.
