CANDIDATE LICENSED.
FOR PRESBYTERIAN MINISTRY. CEREMONY AT ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH.
The Ashburton. Presbytery met in St. Andrew’s Church last evening Tor the purpose of licensing Air J. Russell Shaw as a. candidate for the ministry of the Presbyterian Chu,rch. Thei Aloderator (the Rev. D. I>. MacLachlan) presided over a big congregation. The occasional sermon was preached by the Rev. W. F. Evans, of Wakanui. After the Moderator had put the prescribed questions to the candidate, and Mr Shaw had signed the formula, and the declaration of license had been made, Air Shaw was given the right, hand of fellowship by the presbytery. Other parts of the ceremony were taken by Presbytery 'members. Mr Shaw is to take up a church at Waitahuna in November.
