ACTION ON THE YANGTZE.

According to a Hong Ivong message, the “Central Daily News,” Chungking’s official newspaper, claims that the Chinese have recaptured Matang, a port on the Yangtze-kiaug, in the north of the province of Kiangsi, severing Japanese land and water communications between Anking and Kiuldang. A Chungking message says that for the first time since the war started, Chinese artillery shelled the Japanese aerodrome at lehang, blowing up 14 bombers.
