THE WEATHER.
MILD AND NORTH-WESTERLY. The atmosphere; was again very mild and a, north-west wind blew in, Ashburton to-day. The- sky was dull. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 66.6 and 42.4 degrees, in comparison with 73.1 and 41.7 degrees on the day before. The barometer stood at 29.58 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — An anti-cyclone is located to the north, while a series of vigorous westerly depressions is passing to the south.
The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Moderate to strong north-west winds, rain in the ranges, fair and warm on the plains; possibly a change to south-west, winds with scattered showers after about 24 hours. Seas moderate.
