CASUALTY LIST.

f DISTINGUISHED PILOT KILLED. LONDON, September 29. There are 347 names in the latest list of Royal Air Force casualties. Of this total 102 are reported missing. Among those killed in action is Flight Lieutenant W. H. RhodesMoorhouse, who was awarded the D.F.O. three months ago. fop.* bringing down 23 enemy machines. Another well-known airman in the list is Acting-Wing Commander J. F. Dewar, who- was awarded the D'.S.O. in. May as the leader of a squadron which shot down 50 Germain machines. , There are 141 names in the latest Army casualty list.

Flight Lieutenant W. H. RhodosMoorhouse, D.F.C., was the son of the late William Barnard Rhodes RhodesMoorhouse, the first airman to be awarded the Victoria Cross in the Great War. Lieutenant W. B. Moorhouse died from wounds he received in the raid- which won him the V.C. in. Born in March, 1914, Flying Officer Rhodes-Moorhouse entered Eton College about 1928, learning to fly whilo still a schoolboy. He gained liis pilot’s certificate at the age of 16, while he was still at Eton. On leaving the college he lived in London for some years, continuing to fly with the wellknown aviator, Mr T. Campbell-Black. Later he became a test pilot in a district near London, and became a permanent member of the Royal Air Force just before the outbreak of war. In .1934 lie inherited the entailed estate of his great-grandfather, the late Hon. W. B. Rhodes, of Highland Park, Wellington. His grandfather was the late Mr Edward Moorhouse, brother of Mr Sefton Moorhouse. In 1936 be married Miss Amalia Dtemetriada, daughter of Sir Stephen. Demetriadi, at that time president of the London Chamber of Commerce. AUCKLAND AIRMAN'S DEATH. AUCKLAND, September 30. Advice has been received that Sergeant Gunner James Bracegirdle has been killed in action. He was reported missing on September 11. His father is Mr A. Bracegirdle, of Par-' nell. SOLDIER’S DEATH IN EGYPT. . WELLINGTON, September 30. The following New Zealand Expeditionary Force casualty was announced to-night:—-Private William John Orlowski, 20th Canterbury and Otago Battalion, died in Egypt from shock after burns, the result of an accident on' September 26. His father is Mr S. Orlowski, Junction Hotel, Oamaru.
