BRITISH RAID MANY POINTS.
(Received This Day, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, September 29.
A Royal Air Force Cairo communique states that enemy air activity in the Western Desert on Saturday was slight. Royal Air Force bombers made an attack on an enemy lorry convoy 15 miles west of Bardia. A salvo of bombs fell a few yards ahead of tho leading lorry.
Enemy positions at Fort Maddalena were bombed, and mechanical transport concentrations south-west of Sidi Barrani were also attacked, all the bombs falling in the target area. In Abyssinia, the Combolbia—Dessie — aerodrome was attacked and a direct hit was obtained on a hangar, the doors of which were blown off. Bombs also exploded on the adjacent barracks compound. Operating from the Sudan, Royal Air Force bombers raided Gurall, bombs falling in the target area. It was impossible to estimate at the time the amount of tho damage. Reconnaissance flights were undertaken by South African Air Force squadrons on Friday and Saturday. From all these operations our aircraft returned safely.
