NOVELTIES IN SEEDS from America and England. Lightning or Weeks' Pea. This is an outstanding early variety of superb quality, and most productive. The plants make a vigorous bush growth, about 15 inches tall, loaded with fine pods 7£ to 8 weeks after planting. In cool districts will take a little longer. 1/- per pkt. . Nine Star Perennial Broccoli. Is distinct in appearance and usefulness from any other Broccoli. The plant is perennial under average conditions. It will produce from 5 to 15 marketable heads on a single plant and will continue to do this year after year. The plants will withstand quite a lot of frost. The heads have a fine, close curd, and they measure 6 to 10 inches in diameter, and have a most agreeable Cauliflower-like flavour. Produces a larger crop—just at the time when fresh green vegetables are scarce and expensive. Sow seed in August or September, and plant out during the following month setting plants 4 feet apart on well manured land. By the following March and April a permanent bed of Broccoli, which will produce 5 to 15 heads on each plant, will be ready for harvest. 1/- per* pkt. Burpee's Vegetable Spaghetti Squash. This is one of our latest Novelties, and is now becoming very popular. The vining plants are quite vigorous, and set fruit like any 'Squash. These are white skinned, and usually grow about 8 inches long and 4 inches in diameter. An experienced cook says: “Pick a well-ripened Squash and cook it whole, without cutting or skinning, for 20 minutes in boiling water. Take out of the pot, cut open, and you will find a mass of spaghetti, which is very tasty when seasoned. It is a wonderfully good keeper." 6d per pkt. Fletchers Ideal Carrot. It is quite coreless, and has tender, almost transparent flesh of rich colour. Suitable for household or market gardener who wishes to supply produce of extra good quality and of rich colour.
