ST. JAMES THEATRE.

+HREE-STAR BILL. Another bright programme is in store for the many followers of ttae Thursday and Friday three-star bills. This week’s offering includes Chapter three of the serial “Mandrake the Magician.” Romance and war hit the range country at the same time in Paramount’s new “Hopalong Cassidy” outdoor- action thriller, “The Frontiersmen,” with William Royd George Hayes and Russell Hayden cast in familiar roles. “The Frontiersmen” boasts both a setting and story unsurpassed by any of the previous “Hoppys.” Two rising boy stars, Donald O’Connor and Billy Cook, share the spotlight as ty r o of the favourite characters of fiction in “Tom Sawyer, Detective,” Paramount’s homespun, com-edy-drama based on the famous Mark Twain novel, which completes a. particularly strong “whole family” programme. Frank Lfoyd, three times academy award winner, and producer of “Cavalcade,” Mutiny of the Bounty” and other outstanding successes presents his greatest production. “Rulers of the Sea,” commencing on Saturday. A great picture, dedicated to the gallant men of the sea, the story deals with the merchant marine and the coming of steam. A great cast headed by Douglas Fairbanks jun., Will F'yffe and Margaret Lockwood, enact memorable roles. DANCE AT HIGH BANK. A successful euchre party and dance was held in High bank School when there was a good attendance. A presentation Was made to Mr and Mrs iHenry Breach who were recently married. Mr H. Ledgerwood presented them with a chiming clock, on behalf of residents and friends and wished them every happiness. Items were contributed by Messrs J. Cretney, W. Wills and D l . Fitegqrald. A dance concluded the evening.
