CLAIMS BY GERMANS.
BOMBING OF ENGLISH HARBOURS TOLL OF 2t BRITISH ’PLANES. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) BERLIN, July 31. A communique states: “Our air arm last night bombed the ' harbours of Swansea and Plymouth and an aerodrome and factory at Filton. “Only a few British ’planes raided West Germany and no material damage and no casualties resulted. “Our fighters shot down two raiders. “It is known that 21 British ’planes were shot clown on Monday. SINKING OF BRITISH SHIPS. 1,270,000 TONS IN FIVE WEEKS. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) BERLIN, July 31. A spokesman claimed that Germany has destroyed 1,270,000 tons of British shipping since Juno 25, of which naval units sank 936,000, ’planes destroyed 334,000, and also brought down 370 British ’planes.
