MANY INCREASES SANCTIONED.

Increases in price of a wide; range of groceries have been, approved by the Brice Tribunal, hut no allowance has been made for the new sales tax in calculating the* increase. ...Tiie following is a, list of the advances in prices : —•

Spice manufacturers reported increases on all spices and herbs. The average rise; was Id on loz tins, and 2d on 2oz tins of mace, sage, thyme, mixed herbs, mixed spice. Caraway seed is advanced from Is 6d to 2s 8d per lb wholesale. The recently approved increases in prices of tobaccos and many other commodities became effective in Ashburton . yesterday.
