HOPALONG CASSIDY.
The- twenty-second in Paramount’s series of “Hopalong Cassidy” action romances is “Sunset Trail.” William Boyd again is-seen as the popular Western character, and a familiar supporting;- cast includes George Hayes and Russell -Hayden. The story, based on characters created by Clarence E. Mulfprd, creator of all the “Cassidy” plots, concorns the efforts of “Hopalong” to apprehend an outlaw who is making stage coach travel unsafe on the route to Sacramento. ‘ Lesley Selander directed, and Harry “Pop” Sherman, identified with the “Hopalong” series since their inception -produced.
Star Maker,” which was suggested by Gus Edwards’ career, tolls how Bing, as a penniless song writer makes his way to the ton in the entertainment world by making stars out- of talented children. #|4 # & “Skippy,” alias “Asta” of “The Thin Man” fame, was a very special visitor to England when, he came to appear in the Grade Fields starring film, “Keep Smiling.” Quarantine regulations demand that dogs spend six months in' quarantine, but officials allowed Skippy to act in the film provided he was quartered as near as possible to the set and was carried from his quarters to the sound stages. “Keep Smiling” is a 20th Century production directed by Monty Banks.
