BRITISH LANDINGS.

COMMENT IN LONDON. SHARP REMINDER TO HITLER LONDON, June 26. It is stated in London that the landings on the enemy coastline, reported yesterday, were a reminder of the huge responsibilities assumed by the Germans, who were attempting to control the whole coastline of Europe from Norway to the Spanish border. They also drew attention again to the fact that in their withdrawal from France the British Forces made useless many strong points and bases on the Channel coast. There was also the fact that the German forces which would be required to maintain Germany’s hold on the coastline had been greatly depleted by successful Allied operations.

The Germans state that the raids on the coast which they occupy were unsuccessful attempts to land an expeditionary force, but they were not. The landings were made for a specific purpose, and were completely successfid. The fact that it w r as possible to make the landings at all must give Herr Hitler a sharp reminder of what he is trying to undertake without command of the sea.

Tho Official German News Agency stated that the British landings' occurred at two points oil the French Channel coast. It added that the raids were completely unsuccessful. The German casualties were stated to be two wounded.
