THE WEATHER.
A BEAUTIFUL WINTER DAY. Chilly conditions prevailed during the early part of this morning, a frost of eight degrees being registered in the Ashburton Domain. The daV again turned out beautifully sunny with a light breeze from the north-west. The barometer has risen steadily during the, past few days and this morning it reached 30.18 inches. '' The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 49.1 and 28.6 degrees compared with 57.9 and 27.8 on the previous day. TO-DAY’S FORECAST (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. Tho Government Meteorologist, at noon tn-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— Pressure is low south-east of the Chatham Islands, while an anti-cyclone is centred west of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Qaraarn is as follows: South-westerly winds predominating, still fresh in exposed positions hut light to moderate elsewhere. Isolated showers on the coast but weather otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures cool with frosts again to-night. Seas moderate to rathfcr rough.
