REMARKABLE ESCAPE.
RAILCAR STRIKES A GIG. MAN AGED 92 RECEIVES SHOCK. HAWERA, This Day. When the New Plymouth-bound rail-, oar was near Normanby station this morning it collided with a horse and gig driven by Mr William Minhinnick, who had a remarkable escape from Anjury. He was admitted' to hospital suffering from shock. The; horse (received the full force of the impact, which broke the shafts and cansized Mr Minhinnick backwards on to the road. The horse was killed instantly, being dragged 60 yards before the railcar stopped. There was no damage to the railcar, and occupants of which were not injured. Mr Minhinnick, who was one of New Zealand’s best athletes half a century ago, is 92 years of age.
