IMPORTANT CHANCES MADE.
ACTIVITY IN TRAINING,
WELLINGTON, This Day. The important changes made in the General Staff at Army Headquarters are stated by Major General J. E. Duigan (General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces) to liaye been made to cope with the great increase in work in the branches of the General Staff since the outbreak of the war, particularly in connection with the training of the Expeditionary Force, the perfecting of plans for the defence of the Dominion, and the carrying into effect the Government’s 1 recent decision to institute intensive training of the Territorial Force and National Military Reserve. Lieutenant-Colonel Conway, who has been Director of Mobilisation, has relinquished that post to take up the position of Director of Military Training. Lieutenant-Colonel Gose has vacuated the appointment as General Staff Officer to become personel assistant to General Duigan. Lieutenant-Colonel Sherston becomes General Staff Officer. Major Quilliam succeeds Colonel Conway as Director of Mobilisation, with promotion to Lieutenant-Colonel. Before taking up duty at Army Headquarters Major Quilliam was Crown Prosecutor and senior partner in a New Plymouth legal firm.
