' FACILITATING EVACUATION (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) i/ONDON, May 31. The Air Ministry announces that throughout yesterday and last night relays of Royal Air Force bombers maintained the pressure on the enemy’s lines of _ communication. Bridges, tanks, motorised columns and troops were subjected to intense bombing attacks which facilitated the 'withdrawal operations of the Allied armies. Bombing operations will be- continued with great intensity throughout today. ;.A formation of our‘fighters maintained an offensive patrol over the Dunkirk area yesterday, when a Bornier bomber was shot down. Apart from activities over the Flanders battle area, to which the main effort of the. Royal Air Force has been directed, our heavy bombers last night carried ont offensive operations against military objectives in north-west Germany.—British Official Wireless.
