PACIFIST SPEAKER.
DISTURBANCE AT GREYMOUTH, (Per Tress Association), GIIEYMOFTH, "March 17. A pacifist speaker attempted to address a mooting in Petrie Avenue shortly before S o’clock this evening, when people woic coming from nearby churches and others were going towards the theatre. A soldier on leave dislodged the speaker from his “soap-box,” and this was the signal for a tall local man, who took n part in the demonstration on Friday night, to try to frustrate the soldier. There was a tight between this man and the soldier, lasting some minutes. A large .crowd had gathered, but. took no action, and the bout ended in a truce. Some ’few minutes later two constables arrived, by which time the two men had quietly letfeated. The crowd gradually dispersed.
