The opinion that the war was going to prove a great test of grit and that(education could well be along lines inculcating adaptability was expressed by Mr AV. A. G. Penlington (headmaster of the Hastings High School). He said people would have to meet things as they came along. They would be faced with new situations and would have to do things which they had nevqr done before. Perhaps it would lbe the nation which proved most adaptable that would win the war.
