CHURCH ASSEMBLY.

CONGREGATIONALISTS confer.

SUNDAY BROADCASTS CRITICISED (Per Press Association). WANGANUI, March 15. The Congregational Assembly resolved to protest against the use of commercial radio stations on Sunday evenings for the circulation of political propaganda as likely to create feelings and divisions quite contrary to the spirit of the day. The Assembly expressed the wish that none of its members, ministers* or laymen should speak under the auspices of the stations. The Rev. C. C. Hosldn (Newton, Wellington) was elected chairman for next year. The Assembly pledged itself to support every legitimate effort to win a just and lasting peace. The Assembly also resolved: “That the Assembly, learning that discussions on Church union have been commenced between the Aletliodist and Presbyterian Churches, considers that the time is ripe for tripartite discussions to be initiated; that the Congregational Union Committee on Church union be reconstituted to continue discussions with the Alethodist Church and approach the Presbyterian Church with a view to preparing the way for the early union of the three Churches; that, in the meantime, tlio scheme of union between the Alethodist and Congregational Churches as presented to the Assembly be sent to churches and that they he asked to forward their comments.”
