PATRIOTIC WORK.
WATERTON COMMITTEE MEETS. On Thursday evening, a meeting of the Waterton Patriotic Committee was held. This organisation has been formed to arrange farewells to soldiers from the .Waterton, Ashton, Flemington, Wheatstone and Lough each districts. Representatives from these districts were present at the meeting. Officers were elected as follows: Chairman, Mr G. E. Blee; secretary, Mr L. Heyward; treasurer, Mr C. W. Anderson.
The chairman had at tho meeting; records of the activities of tho Patrotic Committee which worked in Waterton during the last war. Some menbers of that original committee were present at the meeting.
A subscription list was opened at the meeting and a substantial sum was donated. It was decided to circulate the list throughout the districts, included in the commiftee’s boundaries. An offer of assistance in the work the committee had undertaken was received from the Flemington Red Cross Society and the meeting accepted and reciprocated the offer.
