A GRAVE WARNING.
PERILOUS POSITION OF NEW ZEALAND. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. A warning that New Zealand was in a position of danger was given this evening by the Alinistcr of Defence, the Hon. F., .Tones, at, a recruiting rally. “Some say that our isolation gives us protection,” said the Alinistcr. “Are wo safe? We know; that in the last war mines were laid round the coast by a raider. --What’ happened in the last- war can happen in this war. We are in a position of danger, especially to our shipping and our Qiin people. Some also said “why can’t New Zealand keep out of the war?’ Britain was the best, customer for the Dominion’s products. What would happen to our products if New Zealand took up a stand not to assist Britain. Great Britain has promised to do all she possibly can if we arc attacked from the oast to see that wo are adequately protected. The people of this country have to realise that we are being helped and all that that means.”
