THE CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION

GRF.YMOUTH .CLAIM ACCEPTED

The affiliation of the Ashburton Junior Silver Band Avas accepted by the Canterbury Provincial Bands’ Association at a meeting of the association, at Christchurch on Saturday 0A r ening. The president (Mr E. R. Hopwood,' of Ashburton) presided.

It was decided to grant permission for the Grey mouth Municipal Band to hold the annual provincial contest at Greymouth during the Labour week-end; About 15 bands will probably Take part, and a special train for east coast bands will probably be arranged. Arrangements were made for the contest following a report iyom the committee, which visited Greymouth last week. Good wishes were extended to the'Timaru Municipal, Christchurch Municipal' and Woolston Brass Bands, which will take part in the centennial bands’ contest at Wellington later in the month.
