ANOTHER SIGHTED IN EVENING

(United Press Association —Copyright., Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 12. The Air Ministry announces that shortly after 11 a.m. an enemy ’plane crossed the East Coast and later was observed over the Thames Estuary, when anti-aircraft guns opened fire and fighter patrols which were sent up drove the enemy seawards. During the morning the people of Central London could hear gunfire. An enemy ’plane is reported to have reached the outskirts of the London area despite a constant barrage of anti-aircraft fire. The ’plane is believed to have been hit. On the East Coast anti-aircraft guns again opened up early in the evening when a ’plane was sighted.

The raiders were closer to-day than they were yesterday. Gun flashes were clearly visible.
