COMING TO NEW ZEALAND. VISIT OF SEVERAL. WEEKS. IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS. (Per Press Association). * WELLINGTON, This Day. It has been announced by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) that at the invitation of the Government, backed by tho recommendation of the Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Major-General R. C, Freyberg, who is to command the New Zealand military forces overseas, will shortly pay a visit to the Dominion. At the time of his appointment to the. New Zealand command, said Mr Jones, Major-General Froyberg was General Officer Commanding the Salisbury Plain area. He had already, since the outbreak of war, spent some time in France. Now he is coming to discuss questions of organisation with Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff in New Zealand, and (the Government, to meet the officers and men whom he is to lead and generally to familiarise himself with the military situation in New Zealand. It is expected that Major-General Freyberg will be several weeks in New Zealand. He left London yesterday.
