THE MOTOR CAMP.

COUNCIL FIXES CHARGES. ROAD SIGNS TO BF. ERECTED. Efforts that are being made to popularise the new motor camping ground in the Ashburton Domain should go a long way to making the ground well-known to motorists and caravans holiday-makers, and it is believed that when, all the arrangements at the ground have been completed the camp will be one of the most attractive in the South Island. The Ashburton Domain Board and the Automobile Association (Canterbury) are collaborating in bringing the camp to the attention of motorists and negotiations are under way to have members of the Christchurch Caravan Club make a special week-end visit to the Domain. It is not when this visit will take place, but it may be next week-end. The time between is short and may not be sufficient for members to make the run to Ashburton, and if that proves to be the case the visit will 'be made after the Christmas period. Everything .pqssiblei to attract visitors to the camp is being done by the Board and the facilities that will be available will be unusually good. The Board last evening fused charges' for the use of the ground, these being as follow: — Members of Associations —2s a car for the first day, Is a day thereafter ; or 7s (6d a week.

Non-members —2s 6d a car for the first day; Is 6d a day thereafteror 11s 6d a week. These charges compare more than favourably with the fees askdfd at other motor camps. The Automobile Association will place signs in several places directing motorists to the camp. One of these will be near thp racecourse corner one at the traffic bridge, and others will be at the corner of E'ast and Havelock Streets, the corner of Walnut Avenue and l West Street and the corner of Havelock and Grigg Streets.
